SWISSOTEL WIN HIT TROPHY AT HACCC 2011

A record 48 football teams made up of employees from the UK’s top hotels and restaurants, competed in a charity football tournament in September to help raise funds for Springboard.


The Hotel and Catering Challenge Cup (HACCC) saw 48 top London hotels and restaurants accompanied by nearly 2000 supporters participate in a charity football tournament on Sunday 18 September 2011.  HIT were in attendance acting as stewards and also offering information on training and apprenticeships available to industry staff, whilst showing of one of their new MINI Countryman’s


The event raised £15,000 for Springboard, which helps young adults and disadvantaged teenagers gain experience in the hospitality and catering sector.



There were four trophies up for grabs which led to an extremely competitive atmosphere as the group stages kicked off, with last year’s runners up Guoman Tower installed as favourites.


After nine hours and eight games Guoman Tower Hotel emerged as the overall winners after a close final with the Lancaster London, (last year’s champions). 


David Abercrombie from Guoman Hotel said,“On behalf of everybody at Guoman Tower and especially the Tower football team who were crowned HACCC Festival Champions 2011, thank you HACCC Festival for a well organised day as we all had a wonderful time.  We look forward to defending our title in 2012”. 


The Sleep Event Cup was taken by Firmdale, with Swissotel winning the HIT trophy, and Hilton Park Lane winning the H and C news trophy.


HIT also had their own team on the day, though not in the main tournament.  Any teams exiting the main competition early were given the opportunity of a match against HIT with the most notible of these being HIT’s 3-1 victory against The Stafford.


Colleagues and families came to support the teams at the King’s house Sports Ground in Chiswick. 


The family event featured fairground rides, live entertainment, massage parlours and food stalls.
